just realised that I haven't been blogging for some time. Because I am really very busy... This week, i am working as an exhibition assistant for International Food and Hotel exhibition... Ha, unfortunately, this big event is only open to business delegates all over the world and not to the public... Which is a good thing because I won't get to meet anyone familiar. Frankly speaking the pay isn't attractive at all but I took this job up because it will enable me greater exposure...

I am being assigned to do data entry, helping overseas delegates to print their name cards in order to gain entrance. I must admit that job demands very little from me, except to have fast typing skills and good communication skills which isn't much of a problem for me. Initially, there was some confusion due to lengthy procedures but after half an hour, I became more familiar. As I have a strong chinese background, i was given extra tasks: to type in all the information of the china delegates using hanyu pin yin... I am very much sought after by the exhibitor supervisors... haha

Something particularly pleased me. A delegate from Switzerland was extremely happy with my efficient service, especially after I added a "professor" before his name, when I came to know that he is a professor in cuisine, wine tasting, etc... However, i made one blunder, probably due to fatigue. Assuming that all chinese delegates come from china, I typed someone's country as China instead of Taiwan. He din't check his card and it's only after looking through the records did i realise i made a mistake in his nationality. But china and taiwan , any difference... Not much, I feel. Just hoping that the taiwanese is a lien-chen supporter and not a chen shui bian supporter.

I read somone's blog today, someone whom I have never said a hello before but I know the existence of this person in medicine faculty. Oh, she is someone whom I consider lucky, having been to countries that i have always longed to go. But due to financial difficulties, i have never gone to these countries... She is feeling remorseful spending her parents' money and therefore decided not to go abroad with her other friends. Which i feel is a stupid decision. Money can be earned back but not experiences. Once an opporunity to experience something different is missed, the feeling will never be the same again if u experience it at an older age. I would advise her to borrow a sum of money from her parents, after which she can pay back by instalments.

She is lucky again, getting a job at $7 an hour, something extremely difficult in this trying times. But the fact that she is working makes her admirable... okie, I shan't comment anymore in case .... Really got to cherish these few non-working hours. going to chat with my friends liao... good luck to eeryone

I had so much fun today... All because of my new handphone... I bought T610 together with my sister at starhub centre. Spent $298 on T610 which is quite reasonable, considering that it's a camera handphone with many functions. I spent my late afternoon reading the handphone menu and messaging others. Realised that messaging isn't as user-friendly as my original Nokia handphone. As a result, I sent an incomplete message to my friend who misunderstood the whole conversation... I will have a hard time explaining to him tomorrow. The perils of technology. SIgh.

Sigh... I really do not knoe how to use enetation. So have to trial and error. Hope that everything will turn up fine.

My family did not donate to NKF for all these years. The reason is simple: I do not like the way they seek donations! I am apalled and disgusted by the tactics used by the charity organisers like showing the 6855 and 6833 numbers throughout the show without explaining to the audiences the consequences of dialing these numbers... How many times did we see the 6868 number shown on the screen. I am sure it's less than 10 times... To me, this is tantamount to _______ (fill in the blank ) Worst of all, using monetary benefits to lure audiences to donate is not only distasteful but despicable... And having these stars to perform life-threatening acts is totally unwarranted. If I am a foreigner watching NKF, I would have thought that Singaporeans are a bunch of sadistic people, requiring to watch death-defying stunts before they r willing to reach into their pockets to donate.

With regards to the recent controversy surrounding NKF $189 million reserves, I reserve my comments (no pun intended) bcos I fear the repercussions, esp when I think of how the female who mass-emailed her encounter with NKF was forced to make a public apology on the Classified Ads. All I can say is that I will donate only after the reserves are used up which I am sure will take a couple of years... The true spirit of charity is to allow audiences to donate willingly and wholeheartedly without any bait.... Read JB blog (www.jiabin.blogspot.com)who shares similar opinions as me!

Sigh. Just came back from teaching tuition. I am quite worried for my student who despite my constant advice refused to do any homework... Really hope that he would be able to do well for his exams. If not, I will be in trouble explaining to his parents. Haha. I realli dun want to get sacked. But I believe with my "excellent" guidance, he's sure to excel... For those who r reading this, dun puke or laugh out loud because I am really serious...

Yesterday, I went to my friend's house to play PS... WOw, his house is like a resort... I was like joking to my friend that my room is as big as his toilet. Ha, getting rich is really great! playing Ps football for the very first time, my team conceded 4 goals to the opposite team. Better not say out the teams as it's just too embarrassing. I borrowed a couple of vcds from my friend who has like thousands of cds before going to meet my sec school classmates for dinner... Haha.

Dined at CAFE CARTEL... My first time dining at CAFE CARTEL, it was a pleasant experience. Great food, great ambience for social gatherings and free flow of bread ... Only flaw is the llow amps which nearly hit my head twice. My first time of the year meeting my friend who came back from the tough military training in London for a short vacation... We talked a lot and found out a terrible secret. haha.

Today, did nothing much. Woke up at 11pm, had breakfast and then watched F4 concert. F4's songs have good melody... Went out with my friend to buy PS2. PS2 costs $495... My friend was really sad to part with his 500 bucks but I am sure he would make every buck worth, so there's really nothing much to worry about. that's about all... Boring day but tomorrow will definitely be more interesting when my old handphone will be changed to a new one... Yeah...

Watched American Idol yesterday. Act, I felt that this week performance was so much better than last week's. What surprised me was that Paula did not praise everyone. Which I feel is a good thing as it was less superficial and hypocritical. Seems like she is making up for Leah's mistake. Fantasia, as usual was superb ... But it was Jennifer Hudson who gave an outstanding performance, outshining all the other contestants. So she shouldn't be in the bottom 3. My predictions for the bottom 3 r John Stevens (He gave a low-class performance which reminds me of some high-school singing competition), Camile (her singing was soso though I thought that she has improved) and Diana Degarmo (she lacks the X-factor... Zero charisma... I have little impression of her singing). Jasmine didn't really sing well as she can't hit the high notes right... John Peter Lewis and George Huff were just ok, in my opinion. I feel that George Huff is overrated. His voice is too rough, and his singing lacks variety... Let's wait for the results but I hope that John Stevens would be out today or he should just do the audiences a favour by withdrawing from the competitions.

Just read the news about beckham's scandalous affair with a posher-than posh Loo. The new paper and chinese papers were full of juicy details about their rendevous and apparently posh is so mad at him... tsk...tsk...

I was reading George's blog and a wave of nostalgia swept past me when I recalled those bleak and uncertain days when I was stuck in ns fretting over whether I would get into medicine or clinch a certain scholarship. To be frank, I like medicine a lot but it wasn't my first choice, particularly when I regarded an overseas exposure a lifetime opporunity not to be missed. However, many times, we spent pondering over stuff, but alas, destiny will eventually lead us to the path we should undertake. I knoe that many pple would beg to differ, citing the cliched rationale: if u dun fight for your own happiness/future, how r u going to succeed? This is true to a certain extent, I agree but I have seen countless examples about others who have strived so hard in life only to have meagre returns in the end. Of course, I am not suggesting that we leave everything to fate; we still have to set reasonable goals and achieve our dreams.

I was asking myself: how is M1? i searched deep down in my heart and realised that I was satisfied with everything that I have achieved thus far despite my constant lamentations about the piling workload. I am very gratelful to be in Medicine, esp after seeing many of my friends, some of whom are even more accomplished than I am (I must admit) were rejected. My own jc class has at least ten people reading medicine, with over half studying either in the uk or australia. I know that my family would never be able to afford the sky high tuition fees abroad. The new batch of students opting for medicine have to go through two rounds of gruelling interviews and write a on-the spot essay. Ha Ha, I have escaped this!

THough many m1s claim that medicine is really time consuming, I have so much time exploring other stuff, going out with friends when I decided not to be so grades-conscious. But I am grateful that I still have others to fall back on, esp when I have diffiulty understanding certain concepts.

I can only hope that M2 will be even more fulfilling than M1 ... I heard from my seniors that there r so many things to study in m2... and of course cas. The dean's office, I hope, will reduce the number of cas and topics we have to study. I always believe in quality teaching rather than force-feeding or rote-learning. In fact, I learn most when I try to explain to others what I have learnt.

Ha... Spent so much time reading blogs... It's kinda interesting to know a different side of others. It satisfies my voyeuristic tendencies and I can pry on the affairs of others I dun knoe...Scary... I really dun knoe what to do now that those ppl i usually go out with during my sec and jc days are having their exams... Tried looking for a job but most of jobs require long time committment and the pay is usually meagre, insufficient to cover my "high" living expenses and definitely not worthy of the effort put in. I guess teaching tuition is the best job to get the most money out of only a few hours job but it requires long time committment. I had to teach during my exam period but recieving my pay was the most satisfying moment. At least I am financially independent... Wonder when did I become so obsessed with money. I am deciding what book to read now and stumbled upon a reading list given by my jc teacher two years ago. There r so many bks to read but those listed were simply too heavy to read after a mind-boggling exam that sapped up so much of my brain power. Was packing all my books and notes and realised that we had accumulated so much notes just half year of study. So I am now a M2, I guess, provided I pass my first Prof... I made a holiday resolution: that is to learn skating ... Oh , I am planning to buy a handphone, so if anyone has any suggestions, pls tell me. I am quite against nokia phones as i heard many complaints about it, like the handphone auto-switching off while in the midst of a conversation... etc. Most prob i will be buying either Erricson or Samsung handphone. Good luck for the other nus students mugging for their upcoming exams and good luck to all those preparing for distinction vivas...

Finally the exams r over. What a long wait... Now that the exams r finally over, we have so much time to do everything and anything. The plans for my upcoming holidays r still very uncertain, all because of SSM module and HR program. Why must they make us go through this research module when I believe not many people are particularly keen on becoming researchers except for a few like stella and pak ling. I was thinking of earning some extra bucks to finance any overseas trip, but bcos of SSM, everything comes to a halt. I am planning to visit my friend at sydney but it all depends on whether the other friends of mine r still keen. If not, I will just have to stay in singapore or at least visit kuala lumpar. Hope that everything will turn up as planned.

ha.. Just watched Passion of Christ yesterday after exam with Jiabin, David and Chi Hsien. To be frank, I din really enjoy the show. Gasp, dun be offended , jb and other christians out there. As a non- Christian, I feel that there was not much explaination provided and so much can be added to make the show even more emotive instead of the barrage of whippings. The whole show can be summarised in one sentence, or one word: Brutality. Ok, maybe the show is for Christians per se. I am sorry that I have irritated jb by asking him questions throughout the movie... But I must admit that everything else about the movie was great: the music , the cinematography, the make-up, etc.

I am waiting fervntly for wed to arrive bcos it's AMERICAN IDOL. After last week's disappointing performances, I hope that the contestants would buck up and Americans will make wise voting decisions like voting out Mathew Roggers. I can't understand why Camile is still in the competition... TO me, she is just another sweetie pie who has a " unique" voice. Unique, i really dun think so but a more appropraite word would be weird. XC said that it seems like phlegm is stuck in her throat and she has difficulty coughing it out. Her voice is always so jerky and her renditon oF desperado the previous week was really, er funny. Jennifer Hudson is ok, but she lacks star quality. She would be out sooner or late, that's for sure...
Jasmine Triez 's performances r also deteriorating.. Afterfirst week 's brilliant performance, her performances r going downhill but she is still going strong because of the strong support by the Chinese living in US. The funny thing is that Simon didn make mean comments about her performances when it definitely deserved. I can't stand the way she acts.... SO fake...
John Peter Lewis is my favourite male singer but he is also not performing up to standards. Fantasia is superb though i think her singing is not my type... Latoya isgood too...
